FIRST DEGREE BURNS

Victims of first degree burns often don’t need medical treatment because it only affects the first layer of the skin. This injury could be sustained through electrocution, contact with hot objects, etc., but the most common form is a sunburn. First degree burns are characterized by swelling or redness of the skin. It usually heals in a couple of days or sometimes weeks. However, you are advised to go see a doctor if your injured part appears to be infected or swells up.

SECOND DEGREE BURNS

Unlike the first degree burns that limit their damage to the first layer of the skin, second degree burns cause damage to the second layer of the skin which is of course deeper. The coloration of your skin after a Second degree burn could appear red, white or even discolored. Often it is in an irregular shape and appears wet and shiny. The most common causes of the second degree burns include –

  1. Scald Burns
  2. Sunburns
  3. Electrocution
  4. Flame burns
  5. Chemical burns

It can take quite a bit of time to be totally healed from this type of burn. Healing period range from weeks to months, and treatment is often handled by a medical professional. Persons with second degree burns that are over 10 percent of their skin will usually be treated in a hospital. An outpatient facility can treat second degree injuries that are less severe.

THIRD DEGREE BURNS

Third degree burns are very severe. This type of burn is capable of causing damage to all layers of the body. It can even cause damage to the bones, muscles and tendons. Being exposed to heat, even for prolonged period is not enough to cause this type of burn. The injured individuals are often on fire for a period of time.

One common characteristic of a third-degree burn is that the injured person often feels no pain in the affected area due to damage of the sensory nerves. The treatments for this injury can be extensive, and even then, total healing is not guaranteed. The victim are usually permanently scarred and suffer chronic pains as a result of this injury.

HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?

The cost of treatment for burn injuries can get quite expensive considering severe burn injuries are treated over a prolonged period of time. We play a vital role in helping you secure compensation for your injury if you are convinced that it was because of someone else’s negligence.

You would not have to pay any upfront fees with us. It’s simply a case where you bring us in, and we take over your claim while you focus on your treatment. There are several avenues we could use in securing your due compensation, they are:

FILING AN INSURANCE CLAIM

We will analyze your situation properly before selecting the best possible approach in securing your compensation. Some burn injuries are covered by insurance policies e.g if you were burnt in a traffic accident due to someone else’s negligence. Their auto insurance policy might cover your injury. However, there are downsides to filing insurance claims when compared to filing a personal injury lawsuit.

The most outstanding difference is that there is very limited compensations that can be collected through an insurance claim. They include medical bills, lost wages and property damage. Also, there’s a policy limit that places a bar on the amount of compensation you can potentially recover for your injury with insurance claims.

FILING A PERSONAL INJURY LAWSUIT

Remember that we’re with you all the way. We advise that you file a personal injury lawsuit on any person you deem responsible for your injury. We take care of every facet of the proceedings until compensation negotiations or trial, whatever the case may be. There are various forms of compensation that we could help you secure in a personal injury lawsuit, they include medical expenses, lost wages and non-economic forms of compensation.

The non-economic forms of compensation that we can help you secure as a result of your injury include –

  1. PAIN AND SUFFERING: This is
compensation secured for the emotional and physical pain you are burdened with
as a result of your injury.
  2. LOSS OF COMPANIONSHIP: This type of compensation is secured because
your burn injury has negatively affected your relationship. A clear case would
be when your sexual relationship with your partner is damaged because of your
    burn injury.
  3. FILING A WORKERS’ COMPENSATION CLAIM

FILE A WORKERS’ COMPENSATION CLAIM

Assuming you got burnt at your job, the workers’ compensation insurance covers your claim. We will ensure that we secure your due workers’ compensation benefits like medical expenses and compensation for lost wages.
